Job Hunting Online

Posted by admin on Jan 16, 2011 in web sites, work

I could see that banking jobs are getting popular lately. Which is why I wonder why my cousin still fails to find a job when she came from a good school and had an internship at one of the big banks here in the country. I better recommend this online job web site that I found so she can try her luck there. Not sure what she’s doing wrong so I may as well check her resume too. I don’t really claim myself as an expert but after subscribing to several job hunting websites and resume databases, I know my way around with cover letters and resumes.

Work Stuff

Posted by admin on Dec 8, 2010 in work

Just finished designing some artwork for the custom usb drives that my company will be giving away on January. It was a fun project and perfect since I have no strength, nor the creativity to start on a web design project from scratch. This small graphics stuff are very easy to do and fills my schedule just right. Hopefully, work will continue to be like this until after the holidays to give me some time to recuperate.

My Friday Morning

Posted by admin on Dec 2, 2010 in work

Just browsed several metal buildings on iStock so I can have an idea on what kind of photos to use for this new project that I’m working on. The metal structures are pretty cool and they made me wish I can photograph them myself. Now that I’m all pumped to design, I better start on my to-do list so I won’t have a reason to forget to cross of some of them before the week ends. I just love working at Fridays. You don’t care how much work you’ll be doing knowing you’ll be partying/having fun for the next two days.

Single Life

Posted by admin on Aug 8, 2010 in travel, women issues, work

After browsing through several medical job listings, I’ve finally convinced my cousin that there’s a career waiting for her in Chicago. The number of job openings for health related jobs are so many it’s impossible for her not to find one that she likes. With this fact, I’m hoping it will be enough for her to make a decision if she’ll join her longtime partner or not. It’s been a year since they’ve been apart and really need to take the next step.

Since her partner has already started building an empire for his web development business, it’s really just up to my cousin whether she’ll want a new life in Chicago or stay where she is and forget about a future with him. I’m rooting for her to move for several reasons. Her current job, as she plainly puts it, is not exactly a dream. She is single and childless so has no responsibilities whatsoever that could tie her down. She loves him and he could be the one if she chooses to. All she really has to do is pack up and move now that her chances of getting a job is high. Who knows, even if the relationship doesn’t work, it’s still a new city and there are plenty of possibilities waiting to happen.

The Real Slim PC Please Stand Up

Posted by admin on Aug 1, 2010 in technology, work

image I am so glad I came across this website about computer reviews. My mom is looking to buy a laptop but her budget is very limited. Thanks to this review site, her choices are now down to HP Pavilion and Acer Timeline series.

As for me, I’ve been looking for an affordable desktop for so long because I want to give my Dell Studio 17 a break. I’ve seen the slimline series of HP in the mall recently and I just love how it can fit my computer table. As for the monitor, I’m looking at Samsungs Syncmaster 23″ or ACER’s 22″ Widescreen. All the items I mentioned have great ratings so it’s just up to me if all of them will fit my budget and my table.

Free Directories for SEO

Posted by admin on Mar 12, 2010 in technology, web sites, work

I’m thinking of sending all of my client’s web sites to free directories. We want to test how much traffic we can get without spending any money. I found this site called Free Directory Submission (clicke here) that lets you submit your urls to selected and reputable SEO friendly directories for free. The process is automated so you only need to submit once. This is a great tool because my client has about twenty sites and eight more that are currently in progress. This way, I don’t have to enter the information over and over again. As a thank you, all you have to do is link back to their site which is considered fair trade. I just need to ask my client if he’s willing to add a link and then we’ll be all set.

Hiring Season

Posted by admin on Mar 11, 2010 in online life, work

Reading ten to twenty resumes is what I do every morning ever since I was assigned to hire a new writer for our virtual company. We don’t have a Human Resources department yet so it’s up to me to find the best candidates. At first, the idea sounded really cool. Imagine having the power to hire someone, change his/her life but it turned out it’s not as easy as it seems. For one, it’s just hard to find good people. So they are all experienced but they most of them lack work ethics or even loyalty at all. It seems people will jump at the first sight of greener pastures. I don’t take it against them but I need to find someone who will stay with us for a long time. Someone we can trust and guarantee that will do their best to be a part of the company’s success. So far, all of them are interested on what we can give them, not what they can give us.

On the Side

Posted by admin on Mar 7, 2010 in web design, work

I’m looking for quotes for custom hats for my sister-in-law’s event next month. They are going to promote their latest product and asked me to get her detailed pricing so they can compare and choose the best package. I could consider this an additional cash for summer because I will be designing the logos as well. And you know it is for big pharmaceutical companies. Aside from unlimited budget, it will be a great opportunity for me to add their name on my list of clients. There’s now better way to enhance your reputation by having big names trust you.

Stuff To Do – Online

Posted by admin on Feb 10, 2010 in work

Read on best acne cleanser reviews. My friend who’s suffering from a bad case of acne needs my researching skills as she’s already given up finding a solution to her skin condition.

Reply to all design request quotes I’ve received for the last two weeks. I’ve totally ignored them because I was so busy working on this big project. Thanks to my husband’s reminder, I now need to send a total of 18 emails apologizing and referring them to other designers.

Buy a back up service and upload all my recent projects there.

Start writing tutorials for the CMS I’ve been working on. I need to schedule a hands-on training as well to the website owners.

FInish all my deliverables before I enjoy the weekend.

DeLite

Posted by admin on Jan 3, 2010 in work

Not much in the way of design work currently, just a few minor updates here and there and I’ll be done for the day. Well, after I do a small thing for the MIL: there’s a chance she might go to Canada with some friends of hers this year and she’s asked me to try and find some Toronto hotels they can put on their shortlist.
