No Zzzs for Months

Posted by admin on Jul 9, 2010 in home, me, myself and i, technology

Thanks to our gadgets, we can survive sleepless nights with our newborn. With our two ipods and one iPhone, my husband and I can past the time by watching movies, reading ebooks or playing games while we take turns in feeding, changing and rocking the baby back to sleep.

Sleep deprivation is so hard but with the help of these god-send gadgets, we can force ourselves to be wide awake. I mean, you wouldn’t want to fall asleep while burping the baby, would you? I was close to doing that while I was carrying the baby on the sofa bed. I thought I could close my eyes and get a few minutes of sleep but as I was about to doze off, I suddenly felt like the baby is sliding down from my arms. Luckily, I woke up in time but you can bet I’d never do such thing as napping again.

Early Bird Catches The Worm – Pun Intended

Posted by admin on May 8, 2010 in online life, technology, web sites

It’s funny what I got on my work mailbox today. It’s a flyer containing enzyte reviews. As if it’s something that I need! I wonder how they get email addresses? Have I ever visited a site that is connected somehow with enzyte? Worse, has my husband been visiting similar sites? Well, whatever it is, it’s just too much information on such an early morning. I need to get a cup of coffee first before I tackle all the other emails that are threatening to burst my inbox. It’s just weird that it went straight to my work email when the security and spam settings were set so high I am sometimes unable to receive emails from other clients.

New Camera For Me?

Posted by admin on Apr 27, 2010 in shopping, technology

I’m thinking of selling my Canon camera again and buy an LX3 instead. I heard it has gotten so cheap now because of the new model that’s about to come out. I do love my ixus though so I may still go for Canon but with the same level as LX3. The price will have to be similar too.

image

This Canon IXUS 200 IS has a 28mm wide-angle camera which I really love. It also shoots HD movies, perfect for when the baby is here. The IS is very important for me as you know with kids, they don’t really stay in one place. I hate blurred photos but don’t like taking pictures in auto mode as well. In short, I need something that I can use for kids in action and with  manual override so I can tinker with the settings as much as I like.

Studio One 19 All in One Desktop

Posted by admin on Apr 15, 2010 in shopping, technology

By the way, here’s the desktop that I want to purchase.

image

Begs to Be Touched
Reach out and explore the Dell Studio One 19’s 18.5″ display with optional multi-touch screen functionality on a choice of Charcoal fabric trim options or Solid Pure White trim border

    * Crystal clear 16:9 widescreen flat panel HD display
    * User-friendly touch applications with optional multi-touch screen
    * Powerful NVIDIA®  graphics with up to an Intel®  Quad-Core processor
    * Optional wireless keyboard and mouse and optional built-in WiFi

The package that I want cost $749 only but since my only option is to buy it from the States, I need to ask one of my clients to purchase it for me. Who knows, maybe my boss might take pity on my and purchase this as part of my benefit of working for him? Well, that’s purely wishful thinking but even so, the price is really affordable I don’t know why I didn’t buy this when I had the money before.

Shopping for Entertainment System

Posted by admin on Mar 20, 2010 in home, shopping, technology

The husband wants a new home theater now that we can use the 2nd smaller bedroom in the house. I checked Shopwiki on what they can recommend and found that most of them are way beyond our budget. An alternative is to just buy one of those affordable DVD players available in the Internet like Toshiba ($29.99-$75), Haier ($39.60-$60) and Sony ($22.49-$124) to name a few.

Portable DVD players are another option especially when we’re on the road. At least with a portable, he can watch movies at home and yet be able to bring his or our daughter’s movies with us when we travel.

Going back to Shopwiki’s buying guide, I find it really helpful how you can filter the selections by brand, by color, by price and by store. That way, you don’t have to scroll through hundreds of items just to find what you need. And in this guide is where I saw a huge listings of LCD TVs. I really want a 32″ LCD TV or bigger in the next few months. We rarely go out to watch a movie in the cinema so having our own “home theater” no matter if it’s just DIY would be a great addition.

Free Directories for SEO

Posted by admin on Mar 12, 2010 in technology, web sites, work

I’m thinking of sending all of my client’s web sites to free directories. We want to test how much traffic we can get without spending any money. I found this site called Free Directory Submission (clicke here) that lets you submit your urls to selected and reputable SEO friendly directories for free. The process is automated so you only need to submit once. This is a great tool because my client has about twenty sites and eight more that are currently in progress. This way, I don’t have to enter the information over and over again. As a thank you, all you have to do is link back to their site which is considered fair trade. I just need to ask my client if he’s willing to add a link and then we’ll be all set.

Not Too Shabby

Posted by admin on Feb 25, 2010 in food, technology

I’m so happy with my point and shoot. I was just browsing some macro shots from my cam and just can’t believe something so nice could come out of something so light and slim. My search for digital cameras are definitely over. At least until the next best thing comes out in the market again. I really couldn’t bring our DSLR all the time anymore plus it sort of ruins my outfit as I need to carry a big bag or camera bag with me just to protect it. With my small but powerful point-and-shoot, I can dress as I please and still have awesome pictures!

E-Cigarettes Anyone?

Posted by admin on Feb 19, 2010 in shopping, technology

Ever heard of e cigarette? It’s an electronic cigarette that lets you enjoy a normal cigarette except this time, there’s no mess, there’s more puffs (around 250-300) and more smoke. It comes with 2 batteries and different flavors and nicotine levels. If you don’t like charging or changing batts, there’s also the disposable Ecigarette which is equivalent to 25 regular cigs. No need to unscrew or charge the batteries. You can have up to 360 puffs without having to change your cigarette.

More Space

Posted by admin on Jan 4, 2010 in technology

I thought I won’t need to buy anything at least until April when it’s time to shop for the baby. However, just found out that I’m running out of disk space on my main machine. I need to invest on new hard drives to back up my old projects and digital photos worth 40GB.

image Luckily, I found this Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 1TB External Hard Drive for $120.59 online. It will be perfect for all my photos, scrap booking kits, graphic designs and projects dated three years ago. My husband’s movies will have to be moved there as well so he’ll have more space on his laptop.

I know I’m not supposed to spend anything but this is an urgent need and we can maximize both of our computers if we clean up old and unused files.
