Evening Dress That You Can Wear

If only we had discount bridesmaid dresses like this when I went to my cousin’s wedding 15 yrs ago, I wouldn’t look like an oompa-loompa with my orange puffed sleeves and layers of ugly lace. The funny thing is that soon-to-be-brides always say that OUR (the bridesmaids) dresses are nice enough that you can cut them after so you can wear it as a party dress. But it never works, I tell you and I should know for I’m a proud owner of more than seven bridesmaid dresses that hasn’t seen the light of day after the wedding.

Job Hunting Online

I could see that banking jobs are getting popular lately. Which is why I wonder why my cousin still fails to find a job when she came from a good school and had an internship at one of the big banks here in the country. I better recommend this online job web site that I found so she can try her luck there. Not sure what she’s doing wrong so I may as well check her resume too. I don’t really claim myself as an expert but after subscribing to several job hunting websites and resume databases, I know my way around with cover letters and resumes.

Reminiscing – Just The Two of Us

Seeing log furniture reminds me of the rustic, cabin homes where my husband and I used to stay. It’s been awhile since we went on an out of town trip and I miss it a lot. We do travel but always at kid-friendly locations which translates to modern hotels and gardens designed to ward off mosquitoes and bugs. I hope we can go back to that bed and breakfast inn again, smell the pine cones and hear the birds sing upon waking up. As soon as we can leave our youngest at home, I’ll ask the husband to go back that bed and breakfast so we can also revisit the past.

Expenses

With all the online shopping that I’m doing, I’d be lucky if I meet with quota for savings this month. I should’ve taken a payday advance to pay for the big ticket items but as long as I still have funds, I’d rather not have any loans. Main reason is I always forget to pay so the loan always accumulates interest. At least if I spend what money I already have, I know how much is really left at the end of the day.

Anyway, the stuff that I bought online and offline are really important. Some for the baby and for work so I guess you can call it an investment.

Cotton ON Handbag

Saw this from an online friend who just came home from Singapore. I just love how similar it is to my current dream bag – Mulberry Alexa that I emailed her immediately where she got it. She bought it from Cotton ON, which had a year-end sale last December for only …. wait for it …. S$35!

Now I need to bug all my friends in Singapore to get one for me!

A Late Surprise

My brother received a box of 25 of fuente cigars which he’s now sharing with my husband. Although they both quit smoking, they try to enjoy smoking cigars occasionally. And what better way to celebrate than receiving a free box of premium cigars! They will be saving it up for future occasions but according to the first two that they tried, it was really good. Definitely separates the men from the boys.

For Couples

I love shopping for couples! It’s because I know what most of them like and if not, gift certificates will do. For our special friends who’s celebrating their anniversary though – I like to give them something similar to couples gifts jewelry that I found online. I know men are not crazy about jewelry but the ones that I like are very simple, just a simple band if it’s bracelet or a small locket that can contain each other’s photos.

Breast is Best

Whenever people finds out that I’m breastfeeding, they always have disbelief in their faces. Like I would make up something like that. I guess it’s because of my small frame that they can’t believe I am able to feed a human being 24/7. But thin, heavy, short or tall – it doesn’t matter because women are just designed to produce milk. Only 2-3% are not capable and it’s up to us new moms to seek help and learn how to product more breast milk if we think we don’t have enough.

God knows I wouldn’t know what to do if my pedia didn’t support me with my firstborn. She couldn’t tolerate any type of formula (name it, we tried it) and after three months of trying, my milk supply started getting strong.

Which is why my advice to everyone who thinks they don’t have enough- don’t give up.

I didn’t have any breastmilk during the first few months but since there’s no formula in the world that can make my baby satisfied, my body started producing more.

Some tips:

Breastfeed round the clock. Don’t look at the time. Just have your baby suck whenever she wants to.

Pump on the other breast while the baby is sucking on the other one. This tells your body that you need to produce more so it will do just that.

Feed or pump every two hours even when the baby is sleeping to tell your body that you need milk. It’s hard work but do your best to relax and enjoy this bonding time with your little one.
