Sitting Pretty

Posted by admin on Sep 25, 2009 in me, myself and i

… that would be me this weekend. My husband is in Singapore for F1 racing so it’s going to be just me and my daughter. I’m planning to have a movie marathon with her (she loves watching my favorite movies with me) and possibly a trip to the mall. I can’t wait. I’ve never really gone out with my little girl without DH so this is going to be interesting. ;)

TCP #7 – Robots Taking Over

Posted by admin on Sep 21, 2009 in entertainment, movie

Today’s theme at Tuesday Couch Potatoes is Robot/Cyborg movie. If you love human beings turned robots or love the idea of a future with robot or robots in the law enforcement or just plain science fiction, then come join us this week.

Mine will be Artificial Intelligence:AI (2001).

David is 11 years old. He weighs 60 pounds. He is 4 feet, 6 inches tall. He has brown hair. His love is real. But he is not. A highly advanced robotic boy longs to become “real” so that he can regain the love of his human mother.

This Steven Spielberg movie was very disturbing for me. In fact, every robot story is. But still, it poked my heart in so many ways it always leave me crying.

Another is I, Robot (2004) starring Will Smith.

imageThis is the year 2035. Everybody in the world relies on a huge system of robots, which are programmed specifically to help humans and not harm them in any way. But one person does not think that robots are helpful. Chicago homicide detective Del Spooner. but one day, he received a call from the United States Robotics (USR) about a recent death of renowned robot scientist Dr. Alfred J. Laning. Spooner immediately blamed this incident on robots without justifiable reason or proof. Then, he begins his investigation on Lanning’s death, only to discover Sonny, a “unique” robot. What Spooner does not realize, is that something is about to happen. Something that is beyond even spooner’s wildest dreams.

Affordable Shopping

Posted by admin on Sep 17, 2009 in money matters, shopping

Now that Circuit City has closed its doors, Buy.com is now the first on my list of online shops selling affordable electronics. Their Weekly Deals are just fantastic – great products, ridiculous prices, too good to be true. And I have no problem with it. In fact, I encourage them to continue their special offers as it’s the only way I’ll get to afford all the things that I want on my list of things to buy.

Just to give you an idea. ;) And that’s just for the electronics section! I still have the apparels, shoes, baby stuff, books, jewelries and home accessories to explore.

No Such Thing as Too Many Projects

Posted by admin on Sep 17, 2009 in web design, work

I really need to get some seo services for my client. I can’t outsource it too my old colleagues anymore as they are all very busy with their full time jobs. I’ve posted the job on some forums but most of the applicants are either just learning the ropes or fresh out of college (totally have no experience and just trying their luck). Aside from SEO, I need to find myself an extra web designer so I can pass off some of the work that I couldn’t accept anymore. I don’t want to refuse the offers because most of them badly need help. The best thing I can do is talk to one or two of my colleagues and see what kind of setup we can work with.

Tuesday Couch Potatoes #6 – Aladdin

Posted by admin on Sep 14, 2009 in entertainment, movie

This week’s theme at Tuesday Couch Potatoes is Your Favorite Disney Fairytale Movie.

Hands down, it’s Aladdin.

Aladdin, a street urchin, accidentally meets Princess Jasmine, who is in the city undercover. They love each other, but she can only marry a prince

He was my first crush at 13 and I remember watching the movie 4x in the big screen. Since then, I couldn’t get his facial features out of my mind and vowed that I will marry someone with his looks and humor. And if you know my husband, I guess you can say say I did marry one just like Aladdin :) I just wish he had a genie too haha.

Here’s my favorite scene (where Aladdin asked Jasmine if she trusts him) and song. Even now, years later, I still get excited and all mushy whenever I hear “A Whole New World”.

Lawyers Online

Posted by admin on Sep 11, 2009 in online life, web sites

I’ve been receiving quote requests for lawyer websites and couldn’t help but think how my mother-in-law can benefit from one. She’s a lawyer, you see and although she probably has enough clients to keep her busy for a year, I still think she should have an online presence. A quick search on Google can help you find a Tacoma car accident lawyer, motorcycle accident lawyer, family lawyer, divorce lawyer and many more. And I know most of her colleagues have websites, based on the business cards that they hand out. As soon as I find time next month, I’ll tell her that I’ll make her a website without charge. All she have to do is buy me an outfit from Zara :D . That’s her favorite clothes shop so I’m sure she’ll benefit from the extra points for the purchase.
