Wordless Wednesday – Afternoon Class

I forgot the title of the painting and the painter but this was displayed at The National Museum in Manila, Philippines.

This is what classrooms in public schools look like in the Philippines. There are more broken chairs than good ones and students have to race each other so they will have something to sit on. Well, at least that’s what happened when I was in elementary.

What a nice, classical looking picture. You’ve got a cool blog too, with a nice template. Keep it up :)

hi! came here from wordless wednesday … this image reminds me of a very powerful film i saw once, it was called the women of summer. it was about a bunch of young women workers in the US just before the 30′s depression who went to this incredibly progressive summer university. one of them ended up moving to the philippines and teaching there for decades, in a school that looks just like this one.
