Manic Monday

Posted by admin on Apr 19, 2009 in just for fun

Do you recycle? Why or why not?
:: No. I’m more of a throw-and-replace kind of person. I know how important it is so I’ll make sure to do my part in saving the environment.

Would you rather be a pirate or a prince/princess?
:: I wish I could say pirate but I’m too beautiful ROFL. Seriously, who doesn’t want to be a princess?

Are you into astrology? If yes, how does it affect your life?
:: It’s fun to read but that’s it.

Taking A Break To Be Inspired

Posted by admin on Apr 18, 2009 in web sites

I know I should be researching about mig welder for a project but I can’t help but check out the Desire to Inspire blog first. It’s what I do everytime I need to design a new website. I’m not really if it’s the colors or the beautifully arranged furniture that really inspires me to create something nice. All I know is as soon as I’ve spent at least 15 minutes at their site, I start thinking about color combinations, nice looking blocks for website layouts and patterns for graphics and backgrounds.

Just look at this photo for example. All I can think about now are huge white spaces and small but colorful click to action banners. And even if I’m not about to design a website, I still love looking at the photos from the DTI blog. I do hope that someday, I could have a huge house where I can replicate at least 1% of the beauty that I always see from their site.

Organize This

Posted by admin on Apr 16, 2009 in home, just for fun

Saturday 9: Organize This

1. Are you an organized person?
Very. Well, at least I’d like to be. But everyday, our house just gets messier.

2. What is one thing about your home that has to be just so or it drives you crazy when it comes to organization?
Our important papers should be in the same drawer and carefully labeled in their own big envelopes.

3. Do you have one little nuance about your organization that most people consider to be a little over the top? What is it?
The way I fix my books. Even though there’s no category, I want to make sure that all titles should be exactly where I placed them.

4. What is your favorite organizational tool? (bins, closet organizers, etc.)
Envelopes and tons of stickers and labels.

5. Where is your favorite place to buy organizational needs?
Our local bookstore.

6. Are you more organized at work or at home?
Both.

7. Are you more or less organized than your significant other?
He is more organized. He lines up everything from our books, cds, DVDs, gadgets to files in our iPods and computers. Even our network cables are perfectly organized. He wanted to buy a box cutter before so he can organize our garage but I guess work got in the way.

8. Does your significant other help or hurt organization?
Always helpful and I really love it about him.

9. What is the most important recreational items that you organize?
Our photos, cameras and movie collections.

All About Blogging

Posted by admin on Apr 16, 2009 in blogging

1. How did you come up with your blog title OR what does it mean?
Life is a Work in Progress – it’s because everything that I plan to do lately rarely gets done. It’s because I try to do all kinds of things at the same time so the stats is always in progress. Whether it’s purchasing a house, raising a kid, managing our household, working on a new portfolio website or planning a vacation, they all end up having the same priority.

2. What are your general goals for blogging?
I’ve always been an open book. I love writing down my thoughts and sharing good finds with online friends.

3. Do people “in your real life” know that you blog and do they comment on your blog OR is it largely anonymous?
Most of my offline friends check out my blog now and they comment once in a while.

4. How often do you post (x per week)?
I blog a lot, like 3-4x a day on multiple blogs.

5. How often do you read other blogs (x per week)?
I read blogs 2-3x a week too. I try not to do this when I’m working on a deadline because time passes by so fast when I’m reading someone else’s story.

6. How do you select blogs to read (do you prefer blogs that focus on certain topics or do you choose by tone or…?)
Aside from my online friends, I really like fashion and technology blogs. I enjoy viewing photoblogs too – interiors, web site, paintings, etc.

7. Do you have any plans to copy your blog entries in any other format, 0r do you think that one day, you’ll just delete it all?
I’d like the possibility to have them printed someday especially the ones about my little girl. For not so important ones, just delete them all.

8. What are the things you like best about blogging?
Gaining friends and learning new things everyday. If you need to know something, just do a post about it and people will reply. For example, you can ask “what is the cheapest auto insurance” and you’ll be surprised at the number of suggestions you will receive.

9. What are the things you don’t like about blogging?
People reacting first before really understanding the article.

10. How do you handle comments?
I love comments even if they are negatve.

11. Do you have any burning thoughts to share on blog etiquette?
Aside from using a spell checker and avoiding too much javascripts? Respect. Don’t copy and be friendly but not too personal.

12. Any desired blog features?
Just the best spam filter that’s all.

13. Have you suffered blog addiction?
Everyday.

Wordless Wednesday – Afternoon Class

I forgot the title of the painting and the painter but this was displayed at The National Museum in Manila, Philippines.

This is what classrooms in public schools look like in the Philippines. There are more broken chairs than good ones and students have to race each other so they will have something to sit on. Well, at least that’s what happened when I was in elementary.

Ceiling Fans Specials

Posted by admin on Apr 14, 2009 in home, shopping

We went to another property viewing last weekend. I liked the last house that we saw except I’m not sure if stand fans will look nice in the living room. So I checked out one of my favorite online shops, farreys.com to browse through their huge collection of celing fans.

My husband liked this Velo Hugger from the modern ceiling fans collection.

But I think monte carlo fans are much  nicer looking if we’ll go with wooden floors. The cheapest that we both really like so far is the Designer Supreme at only $113.68.

Fitness First

Posted by admin on Apr 14, 2009 in health, web sites, women issues

Women worldwide have one thing in common – weight problem. Whenever my girlfriends and I talk, we always say how hard it is to be a woman. Not only you have to look at your best everyday, but you can’t even enjoy a good meal because you’re trying so hard to lose weight. I blame it on very thin models on magazines and the number of clothing made for sexy women only. Personally, I try what I can to keep in shape. By exercising regularly, I can eat what I want without feeling guilty. If you want to return to your pre-pregnancy weight or just stay fit, I highly suggest investing on workout equipments.

A good treadmill is a start. Check out the Smooth Fitness website on which model you can afford. They have this online tool that lets you select the perfect fitness equipment that’s not only right within your budget but one that you can really use. I like how you can specify the weight of the heaviest user and your experience level (jogger or walker?). The lowest price is Smooth 5.45 Treadmill at $988 which you can pay at $29 monthly which is pretty reasonable especially if you use it everyday.

Lie down in a hammock while reading my favorite beach book.

A glass of Piña Colada or Margarita will be a bonus too.

Go on a road trip with my husband while listening to music from our past.

image

Stay in a hotel and turn on the aircon full blast. Turn off the lights and lie down all day watching DVDs

Look at the ocean and think of nothing.
