Wordless Wednesday – Before Sunset

I can’t believe how productive I am today. It’s only 5:28PM and I’ve already finished designing two website mockups including skinning a wordpress blog. To think I’ve spent half of the day browsing through soompi.com to get a glimpse of Coffee Prince’s behind the scenes and bloopers. I even read reviews about flash memory for two hours.
Anyway, I really feel good this month even though I’ve repeatedly complained of being overworked. Not only side projects are overflowing, but I’ve also started learning new applications – Boonex and osCommerce to upgrade my skill as a designer/developer. It’s a bit hard but I’m getting there. I feel confident to add these to my super outdated resume. That and my keeps-getting-better-CSS-coding, I feel like I can start competing with new designers again. In fact, this morning, a US-based Filipina contacted me if I can do her website for her. She said she saw my portfolio and was so impressed that she wants to meet with me when she visits this May. I was a bit embarrassed when she mentioned my portfolio because there are sites there that I’m not so proud anymore. So if you’re thinking -hey! You’re designs are not that great, I’m with you 90%. Which is why while I write this, I’m thinking of pushing some projects so I can have enough time to update my main site.
Well, I’m blabbing again. Like I said, today is just so unusual.
Just finished chatting with my boss via Jabber. He was asking if I’m not too busy. I was torn whether I should say yes, thinking it might seem that I couldn’t handle the work. On the other hand, if I say no, it would mean that I’m not getting their money’s worth. The paranoia alone might probably cost me my job. Anyway, I found myself saying the truth, which is no. He was more than happy with my reply and then started assigning me one task at a time. So to cut the story short, I now have twenty tasks, varying from easy to complicated to impossible, all due before the end of January. But in order to keep the positive vibes flowing (my New Year’s resolution ), I’ve decided that one, the company is definitely benefiting by hiring me and two, they think I’m now skilled enough to trust me with bigger projects/clients.
… is that you can sleep whenever you want to. In fact, I just woke up thirty minutes ago and I feel so refreshed. Of course, you have to make sure that no other co-workers are online, let alone your boss. It’s always easy to get caught if the message that they sent you an hour ago was still unanswered. Also, make sure that you will only nap if there are no huge deadlines to meet. You could be well rested when you wake up, but it will surely be a long night ahead of you as you try to juggle all the remaining tasks.
It’s not the case today, luckily. Which means I can wrap up around 6PM, play with my daughter and look forward to watching my favorite TV shows tonight. Tuesday night is my TV night and the only day of the week when no one can touch the remote control but me. So while it’s early, I’ll have to finish reviewing this vocational and technical college guide so I can push through with my plans.
